ReDiscovering Our Vision – Part 2

RE-DISCOVERING OUR VISION

Part 2

Mosaic Bible Fellowship

  1. MISSION: Missional Mandates – What are we doing?

  1. VALUES: Missional Motives – Why are we doing it?

What are Missional Motives?

  • MISSIONAL MOTIVES are non-negotiables.  Things that we are willing to get into the ring and fight for.  They represent what we are not willing to sacrifice.
  • They are the shared convictions that guide the actions and reveal the strengths of our church.
  • They are the constant reminders of what is most important to our church. They are what makes the Mosaic Bible Fellowship special.

  1. VALUES: Missional Motives – Why are we doing it?

  • RACIAL DIVERSITY
  • GOD’S TRUTH
  • PRACTICAL MINISTRY
  • CARING RELATIONSHIPS

  1. WE VALUE RACIAL DIVERSITY:  WE ACCEPT OTHERS  WITH LOVE  AND RESPECT, BECAUSE CHRIST ACCEPTED US EVEN WHEN WE DIDN’T DESERVE IT.

Acts 13:1 (NIV)

In the church at Antioch there were prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen (who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch) and Saul.

Galatians 3:28 (NIV)

28  There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

  1. PRACTICAL MINISTRY:  WE BELIEVE OUR LOVE IS EXPRESSED WHEN WE PULL UP OUR SLEEVES AND SERVE ONE ANOTHER.

Mark 9:35 (NIV)

Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, “If anyone wants to be first, he must be the very last, and the servant of all.”

Philippians 2:5-7 (NIV)

5  Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:

6  Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped,

7  but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.

  1. WE SPEAK GOD’S TRUTH IN LOVE:   WE PREACH GOD’S WORD SO THAT PEOPLE CAN KNOW HOW TO RESPOND TO GOD AND LIVE A LIFE THAT PLEASES HIM.

  • OUR METHOD OF PREACHING:

Expository preaching , also known as expositional preaching.  Truth Telling at  Mosaic  is a form of preaching that details the meaning of a particular text or passage of Scripture. It explains what the Bible means by what it says.  It is a  grammatical, historical,  exposition, a careful drawing out of the exact meaning of a passage in its original context.

Timothy 3:16-17 (NIV)

16  All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,

17  so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

  1. CARING RELATIONSHIPS:  NO ONE SHOULD HAVE TO DO LIFE ALONE.

A Key factor in discipleship is being involved in caring relationships.  The context in which that care is expressed takes place not just on Sunday morning, but in the context of close friendships and small groups.

Acts 2:46-47 (NIV)

46  Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts,

47  praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

“The Christians you meet in the Book of Acts were not content to meet once a week for “services as usual.” They met daily (Acts 2:46), cared daily (Acts 6:1), won souls daily (Acts 2:47), searched the Scriptures daily (Acts 17:11), and increased in number daily (Acts 16:5). Their Christian faith was a day-to-day reality, not a once-a-week routine. Why? Because the risen Christ was a living reality to them, and His resurrection power was at work in their lives through the Spirit.”    Warren Wiersby
